To accompany the Course Book and give your students further practice of the content presented there, the 2nd Edition of English for Computing in Higher Education Studies also comes with a digital workbook, which contains the following features for each of the units:

• vocabulary tasks to reinforce the meaning of the key words in the unit;

• pronunciation tasks practising aspects such as word and sentence stress, as well as individual phonemes;

• extra listening extracts (odd-numbered units) and reading texts (even-numbered units), related to the topic of the unit, but from a fresh angle. All texts are followed by comprehension tasks;

• extra speaking (odd-numbered units) and writing (even-numbered units) exercises to practise the functional language presented in the Course Book. By the end of the book, students will have produced twelve written or oral assignments, including paragraphs with a topic sentence, a summary, questions about lectures and seminars, essay plans, structured arguments and reports;

• further practice of all the academic skills presented in the Course Book;

• a final speaking or writing assignment that allows the students to put in practice all the language from the unit. Students are encouraged to save these pieces of written and spoken work as files on their devices so that they can refer to them at a later stage, enhancing their perception of progress. They can also be used by teachers as formative assessment.

All tasks are interactive and not only completed entirely online, but also automatically corrected, supporting self-study and reducing teacher workload. Many screens also contain extra boxes that clarify linguistic aspects and assist the students in completing the tasks. Once they have done so, they can check their answers, see the correct answers and reset the task so they can do it as many times as they wish.Apart from all these tasks, there is one more amazing feature: in a partnership with Quizlet, Garnet enables your students to access, through a QR code or URL provided, a new set of practice activities per unit on the Quizlet website, giving students the opportunity to work further on the key terms presented in the book.
